The child actor later starred in the Bomba, the Jungle Boy series. After leaving Hollywood, he earned a business degree from UCLA and eventually went into real estate.

Johnny Sheffield, the former child actor who played Boy in the Tarzan movie series starring Johnny Weissmuller in the late 1930s and ’40s and later starred in the Bomba, the Jungle Boy film series, has died. He was 79.

Brenda Joyce, the only “Jane” to star opposite two different Tarzans in the talking era of the big screen, died July 4 at a nursing home in Santa Monica. A friend said she was 92.

Just who is Cheeta the chimp, anyway?

The story is that the ape starred with Weissmuller in Tarzan flicks and Reagan in ‘Bonzo’ and is retired at age 76 in Palm Springs. But an author’s research led him to far different conclusions.

The story does not begin in Hollywood, where it’s possible, though by no means certain, that Cheeta became famous.
