Charles Boyer at LACMA

When I hear the name Charles Boyer, who is currently being honored by the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) with the series “The Discreet Charm of Charles Boyer,” I immediately think of my maternal grandmother. Thirty years ago, Boyer, a couple of days before his 79th birthday, took his own life following the death of his wife, Pat Paterson. (Boyer’s only son had killed himself at the age of 21 in 1965.)
