A star for former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has been added to the Hollywood Walk of Fame. At a ceremony outside the Capitol Records building on Monday night, Starr’s name was unveiled as the 2,401st star on the sidewalk attraction.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame also marked its 50th anniversary on Monday.

Those by Starr’s side for the unveiling included actress-wife Barbara Bach, musicians Jay Walsh and Ben Harper, producer Don Was, director David Lynch and actor Noah Wyle.

The Walk of Fame already includes individual stars for the drummer’s former Beatles bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison. The Beatles as a group received a star in 1998. (Austrailian Broadcasting Company)

WALK OF FAME

John Lennon Walk of Fame Star not stolen

Several media outlets have reported that John Lennon’s Hollywood Walk Of Fame star was stolen. A plastic seal was recently found covering Lennon’s star and created panic amongst the media and fans. The plastic was actually set up to cover the star, which was being relocated. Ana Martinez of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, also known as wofstargirl on Twitter, confirmed that Lennon’s star was not stolen, but moved so that all the Beatles will be together some day.

“Yes, as a gift to fans, we moved John Lennon’s star next to George Harrison’s and Ringo’s will be there soon 2,” she wrote on Twitter yesterday. “Just waiting for Paul now!”

Lennon’s star has been moved next to George Harrison’s star, which is near the Capitol Tower, in hopes that someday all the Beatles individual stars will be all together. Ringo Starr’s Walk of Fame star, which will be dedicated at the 50th Anniversary of the Hollywood Walk of Fame on February 8, 2010, will mean that all of the Beatles – except for Paul McCartney – will have their own stars. McCartney’s star will also be located in that same area when his star is finally dedicated. But he hasn’t set up a date for a star ceremony, though he has been approached about it.

There are no plans to move the star for the Beatles as a group, which is located on Hollywood Blvd.

 WALK OF FAME

George Harrison to get Hollywood Walk of Fame star

Paul McCartney may have a knighthood, but it is George Harrison who is receiving the royal treatment from the Hollywood Walk of Fame this month.

The Beatles’ former guitarist will receive a star on the fabled walk on April 14, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce announced Friday. His widow, Olivia Harrison, and his son, Dhani, are expected to attend the unveiling.

Harrison, who died of cancer in 2001, already shares a Walk of Fame star with all four of the Beatles, but only he and John Lennon, who died in 1980, will have their own stars.

Harrison’s, to be unveiled in front of Hollywood’s Capitol Records building, will be the 2,382nd on the Walk.

Although once known as “the quiet Beatle” for his shy, retiring nature, Harrison was one of the group’s most powerful forces.

His rockabilly-influenced playing gave the Beatles’ early recordings their distinctive guitar-driven sound and his voice provided many of the group’s most arresting vocal harmonies. His fascination with Eastern music also helped broaden the band’s sound on such classic albums as Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and The White Album.

Although overshadowed by the more prolific songwriters Lennon and McCartney, Harrison composed several of the Beatles’ finest songs, including “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” “Here Comes the Sun,” “Something” and “Within You, Without You”.

Following the group’s break-up in 1970, he enjoyed a successful solo career that included such albums as All Things Must Pass.
