I used to love his jokes about bigotry in the south.

Steve and I served in the same NY National Guard Reserve Unit in the early 60’s. At the Kingsbridge Armoy in the Bronx, ny It was the 742 Ord Battn. Steve was the funniest man I ever met. Always with a joke and a sinister smile. He was my age about 74 not 65. He always kept his age a secret. I will miss his wit and humor. I imagine the Good Lord needed a good Comic in Heaven so he took Steve. God Bless you Steve, Rest in Peace and Thanks! Marty Z

I will miss Arthur P. Dietrich from Barney Miller which is the first place I saw Steve Landesberg. His deadpan expression and witty jokes had me chuckling all the way through! What a quiet man he was in this show, but you could feel his presence. He created a very lovable character, and he lives on in my mind, in that exceptional series Barney Miller, as the unflappable detective Dietrich. I will miss you Steve Landesberg!
