Some ghoul has defaced the grave marker of actress Marilyn Monroe at Westwood Cemetery. This photo, which was taken by a friend about 2 weeks ago, shows that either a key or knife may have been used to deface the actresses’ marker. It’s not known if it has been repaired or replaced. If anyone has that information, please post a comment.

What can be said about a person that would do something like this to Monroe’s grave marker or to anyone’s grave for that matter.

I have photographs of an incident very similar – taken about 3 years ago. Seriously looks like it might be the same vandal.

    My friend Paul Hubal says,

“They have to replace that marker often. People have pried off and stolen them. and the marble facade is changed every year or so.”

    Is this true?

This story is such a sad one. I hope that they find a way of keeping this from happening. Without totally keeping the public out. But if it comes to that solution. I would be for it. It has to stop.

This is the kind of thing that ruins it for people like us who just want to pay respects and take a photo or three hundred. This is the kind of stupidity that gets the rest of us banned from cemeteries.

    Amen, Brother Steve. Amen!

I will never understand the idiots that do this to sacred places. Vandalism is such a cowardly act, that has no place in our society. Poor Marilyn suffered enough while here on Earth, she deserves her rest without disturbance. Hope they find out who did it and make them repair every damaged marker in L A area! At their expense too! God Bless Marilyn!
