Olsen’s lawyer Michael C Miller has twice declined requests from the Drug Enforcement Administration to speak to the actress, claiming his client had nothing to do with the drugs.  (click on ‘Continue Reading’ for more)

A law enforcement official said Full House star Olsen, 22, will not answer questions without immunity from any prosecution which could follow.

But Mr Miller said: “We have provided the government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr. Ledger’s death and the fact that Ms. Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr. Ledger consumed.’’

Olsen was a close friend of Ledger’s, and was the first person called by a masseuse who found the 28-year-old actor’s body in his New York apartment.

Authorities are ready to subpoena the actress to appear before a grand jury if negotiations with her lawyer fail.

Other witnesses including estranged wife Michelle Williams, who Ledger met on the set of Brokeback Mountain have willingly answered questions about his death.

DEA investigators suspect the painkillers oxycodone and hydrocodone found in Ledger’s system were obtained with phony prescriptions or other illegal means.

Ledger, who died from a combination of drugs, had also taken legally anti-anxiety medication and sleeping pills prescribed legally by doctors in California and Texas.

Shortly after the Australian-born actor’s death, Olsen issued a statement that read: “Heath was a friend. His death is a tragic loss.”
