Filmmaker Cecil B. DeMille’s former estate, located in a private community in Los Feliz, hit the market about a year ago priced at $26.25 million. It dropped to $23.95 million in May and has now dropped again, falling to $18.95 million. Comparison-wise, you could buy Candy Spelling’s $150 home or seven Cecil DeMilles. According to the Los Feliz Improvement Association, the estate was built in 1914 and is now owned by a couple.



Catalina Steamer to be Scrapped…

SS Catalina is seaworthy no more




The once-proud steamship, which ferried millions of passengers to the island town of Avalon, is being cut for scrap after sitting for years in Ensenada harbor.

In the end, the Great White Steamer was a great white elephant.


The island town of Avalon didn’t want the SS Catalina, which for 50 glorious years ferried about 25 million people to its shores. Neither did the Port of Los Angeles, or harbors in San Diego, Vancouver and Honolulu. And, finally, neither did the Port of Ensenada.    (Click on ‘Continue Reading’ for more)

Andy Hallett dies at 33; green demon of TV’s ‘Angel’




Hallett was a singer and actor who portrayed Lorne on the vampire series, a spinoff of ‘Buffy.’

Andy Hallett, a singer who gained fame portraying a green-skinned demon on the dark vampire series “Angel,” died Sunday night at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County coroner’s office said Tuesday. He was 33.     (Click on ‘Continue Reading’ for more)
